The Australian College of Vocal Arts (ACVA) offers two taught courses designed to train, examine and accredit studio singing teachers. These courses are suitable for new and developing singing teachers, as well as established teachers looking to up-skill on current pedagogical knowledge. Certificate in Singing Teaching - CCVA (Tch)
Specialisations: Musical Theatre, Contemporary, Jazz, Crossover or Classical Singing Teaching

3 Months – includes:
4 weeks of online lectures
4 weeks self-directed learning time using a structured plan
2 weeks supervised teaching practice (customised for each learner), and
an additional 2 weeks for assessment preparation and finalisation time.
Course can be completed earlier than this timeframe (dependant on supervised teaching time & assessment preparation time).

2 introductory level music theory seminars (pre-recorded)
Supervised teaching practice
Development of a series of lesson plans and teaching portfolio resources
Guided instruction to support you through all assessment items

Min 15 years of age (learners under 18 years require additional parent/guardian permission prior to enrolment)
No prior qualifications required.
You must be able to sing already, prior to entry. As a test of your executive singing abilities, you will submit an audition video (self-tape) of 1 song, in any genre of your choice.
You will undertake a 10 minute pre-entrance interview with an ACVA Teaching Fellow, who can also answer any questions you have.
You must have English reading, writing and comprehension skills equivalent to at least Year 10 High School level.

This course is fully inclusive. The total cost is $770 (GST inclusive).
Fees must be paid prior to commencing.
Associate Diploma in Singing Teaching - ACVA (Tch)
Specialisations: Musical Theatre, Contemporary, Jazz, Crossover or Classical Singing Teaching
Most learners taking this professional diploma course have already started to work as singing teachers, but this is not a requirement.

12 weeks taught modules (6 modules total), including pre-recorded online materials and live lectures
6 weeks supervised teaching practice (customised for individual learners)
6 weeks self-directed study and assessment preparation.
Course can be completed earlier than this timeframe (dependant on supervised teaching time & assessment preparation time).

1 musicology seminar
1 professional career mentoring session 1:1 with a senior ACVA Teaching Fellow

12 months access to ACVA’s specialist webinars and public lectures.

The ACVA Singing Teacher Certificates and Diplomas are delivered intensively through a series of online lectures, seminars, workshops, and 1:1 sessions. There is an identified shortage of professionally trained and skilled singing teachers in major regional and metropolitan areas of Australia. At the same time, there is an increasing number of live productions and bands being toured, providing an ever-increasing demand for vocal arts product.
As a successful graduate, you will have honed your skills in singing voice education, and will have obtained an industry-based professional certification that represents and reflects the high professional standards you strive for in your teaching practice. You will be qualified as a specialist to teach private singing lessons to individuals and small groups, within a variety of settings.
