Voice Research Diplomas

If you are a passionate singing or acting voice researcher or musicologist, you can now have your research experience recognised within ACVA’s professional certifications framework.

The Australian College of Vocal Arts (ACVA) offers two advanced certification levels in voice research or musicology. There are no prerequisites to enrol into either certification, and both are targeted at advanced professionals with an existing understanding of how to conduct and publish research. The general regulations below apply to both levels.

Licentiate Diploma in Voice Research or Musicology - LCVA

Submit 1 or more research papers or a single thesis/dissertation on any relevant topic under the broad field of musicology, provided that it is somehow related to the human voice. The quality and depth of your submitted paper/s should reflect that of a Bachelor of Music (Honours) level candidate at a university or conservatoire.

Submit at least 15,000 words (excluding references).

Fee $660 gst inclusive

Fellowship Diploma in Voice Research or Musicology - FACVA

Submit 2 or more research papers or a single thesis/dissertation on any relevant topic under the broad field of musicology, provided that it is somehow related to the human voice. The quality and depth of your submitted paper/s should reflect that of a Masters Degree level candidate at a university or conservatoire.

Submit at least 30,000 words in total (excluding references).

Fee $990 gst inclusive

General Regulations (Apply to both levels)

Use any widely accepted referencing style you like (e.g. APA7, Chicago, Harvard, Vancouver) as long as it is applied consistently.

Submissions must be typed, not hand-written.

You may submit previously published material provided you were the sole author. You cannot submit any material with multiple authors.

You may submit material that you previously completed for coursework or research courses elsewhere, provided you were sole author.

You must abide by ACVA Policies and Procedures including our Artificial Intelligence Usage and Plagiarism Policies.
